Community Checklist
7 months out
- Talk to person overseeing Visas and person giving orientation speech. Let them know they can come to you if you need anything.
- Confirm Visa email is set up
6 months out
- Outreach to local groups (example tracking from previous years) - This didn't seem very effective, do we want to rethink or abandon it?
- Design and put up flyers in conference city - ideally before early bird ticket cutoff
When list of talks is released
- Confirm speakers have gotten their Visa letter (esp keynote speakers)
2 months out
- Confirm with Venue team that there is a space for Private Wellness Room (including fridge for nursing parents to use)
- Child care - check on reputable places near the venue we can recommend
- We have been giving stipend of $150/day, but confirm that’s accurate
- Create blog post
During conference
- Day or two before: Send out email to attendees with a map of conference layout, including side rooms
- Put up Private Wellness Room signs (examples of sign 1, sign 2)
After conference
- Make sure you've updated any changes to this list and other documentation based on this year's experience
DjangoCon US Perspectives
- Review general info once you've taken on role of Community chair
- Roles are claimed and everyone has been connected
- June: Equipment is accounted for via the A/V chair or some other means
- Before or during conference: Find 3-5 interviewees with a variety of perspectives
